| Kit by Gail Wilson - Pincushions that were created by women long ago are often much more than simple utilitarian objects. Strawberries and birds figure prominently as well as pincushions on pedastal bases--usually these were created from broken and saved glass oil lamp bases in the spirit of making use of everything. Often called "make-do's" due to being made from things at hand, they instead become wonderful and often whimsical folk art. Gail Wilson has taken her own "folk art" liberties in the designs, feeling that is is well within the nature of the historical but still practical pieces. She has instead chosen to make her own bases of turned wood treated to look in character. The bird pincushion has the added feature of a spindle for the spool of thead that is in use. The velvets and embroidery trim help the vintage look and the best fine wool is supplied for the stuffing for preserving needles and pins. Finish for the wood part is all that you need to complete these heirloom treasures. Five different styles are available. The pear and the crazy quilted ones are new to the series. Choose style below.
