This vest was my entry in the American Sewing Guild National Convention's "Texas Vest Challenge". It's entitled "The Yellow Rose-s
of Texas", since I couldn't decide which type of yellow rose to use! There are two different silk wire ribbon roses - the "bud" and "full bloom". The appliqued roses are from the K.P. Kids' "Frog
Frenzy" book. For highlights, I attached yellow citrines in the centers. The ruched roses are accented with faceted glass beads. I used silver and golden yellow rhinestones to add a little
glitz and fill in the design. The denim vest is a Burda magazine pattern (August, 1992), edge-stitched with yellow thread, lined with bright yellow Satalure and yellow rose fabric in the front.
Silver rose buttons are the finishing touch. |
