First the block was only to depict the day 25 years ago...At this point I asked Gerri if she had any pictures of the wedding??? She
copied some for me but they would not work. Then on an outing with Pamela and Casey I asked to see yall's wedding albumn and Maureen brought it and we stopped and made some copies...With the thought
that I had asked everyone to hand make Christmas presents this year between us girls, Maureen said "Starting on Christmas gifts already, huh?" I said "Kinda" (didn't lie"). I had, but these
pictures had nothing to do with that...Now the ball was rolling...But now a Big snag hit---had talked to a lady in Dallas over the Internet about doing the embroidery, she agreed, then had an
emergency come up and couldn't do it...I'm panicking!!! What to do now??? It would be your 50th if I had to hand embroider all those names that I planned to put on it...Lady in Dallas put out a
note on the Internet for someone here in Houston to reply to me if they could help...I received a reply from Mary Lu that lives around the Hwy 6 area, we talked and she was willing to help...(Thank you, Mary
Lu).
Now...how many blocks to do and what to put on them...
#1 FRIENDS, FRIENDS, AND MORE FRIENDS we all know we have a "special" place in your hearts, just as ya'll are in ours, so
not to leave anyone out, block #1 says it all...
#2 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! July 31st, 1971-1996. The Special Day 25 years ago...The pictures were transposed to material so they are not
paper...
#3 CASEY, THE LIGHT OF YOUR LIVES in pink no less for it's her favorite color...the picture is my favorite of all that I have received of my adopted niece Casey...(good pick huh???)!!!
#4 All those things that you two love in nature---the flowers, the plants, the animals, the beach, the hunting and the fishing and the sentimental part of both of you...
#5-6-7 All
those family members that mean the world to you---and the Special Thanks to Sheryl, who gathered all these names for me---couldn't have done it without her.
#8 & 9 Well I may have left some
out on these two but it's the best I could do without Spilling the Beans...Sheryl helped and Maureen too---figuring she had more than Christmas on her mind now because of these strange questions...but what
the hay.
It took more time than I thought with the set backs and then I'm as slow as Christmas toooooooo ya know...but it's finished now!!!
Where did all this stuff come
from??? The blue material under the 8 blue buttons is from a work shirt from A. J. WARREN SERVICE CO., therefore, so are the 8 buttons. A little help from Sheryl again, she found the messed up
work shirt in the back so I was able to salvage a little material and the buttons...(don't worry Jay, it wasn't a new one that I cut up) but she did give me a new patch so I owe you for that!!!
Gathering all the buttons and the charms was different...Cause at times I couldn't find the shapes I wanted to use or it would be in gold and not in silver...Had to paint some things.
Made the yoyos that are under some of the buttons.
Hand tatted the W and the 4 white rings and the 5 blue rings...They are probably not Perfect but I'm just learning to help save a dying art
form...
All the beads were hand stitched on.
The tassel I made from twisted pearl cotton thread...
The gold piece just happened to have the Ruby color which is for the month of
July...Guess I was just supposed to find this piece and figured the ruby part out later...Some things are new, some are old, some were bought, some were dug out from my stash, some were made, some are parts
of jewelry...whatever it may be...it was all put down with Stitches of Friendship and Love...Just as the threads that hold it together are like the ones that heve kept you two together for the past 25
years...
It is all original, not another one like it around...And as the poem says...It came from my head, my hands, and my heart in hopes you feel the Love of Friendship that I put into every
stitch when you look at it or even think of it...
THANK YOU for being the SPECIAL FRIENDS that you both are to EVERYONE!!! Let's not forget each other, be it FAMILY OR FRIENDS, WE ALL LOVE
YOU BOTH, LONG TIME FRIENDS, CATHY AND RON.
